Another Sunday meta post.

First of all, it’s too damn hot. Go away, summer. I don’t need you.

I’ve been making progress on recategorizing. Most of the way through determining what categories I need. Should be done with that sometime next week and then I can go about actually recategorizing everything. That part will probably be even more tedious, unless I can find a straightforward way to do it programmatically.

There’s a side project I’ve been thinking about for a while. I suppose that’s not true–I always have a bunch of other projects laying around that I could work on. It’s just a matter of choosing which ones to put time and effort into, since those are limited commodities.

In any case, the one I’ve been thinking about the most is taking an art program I wrote, sticking it on a Raspberry Pi, and setting up a simple little server where people can come to a website and request their own digital artwork. This is an example of what my art generator program does:

I would add a variety of features and settings to it so it can do different things. The general idea would be something you could use as a desktop wallpaper, so it would be possible to request specific resolutions. Since it takes a while to generate an image, users would be given a link to come back to, and maybe get an email to let them know when it’s done. Something like that.

I spent some time looking at themes. I’m never very impressed by the other themes I see. Maybe because they’re free and I need to shell out money for a good one! I’m not prepared to do that just yet, but it may be what I ultimately end up doing. Not that I dislike the current theme, but it’s rather basic. Anything I pay money for would have to offer a lot of useful features I don’t currently have.

That’s about all I have to report for this week. I know I didn’t write anything about the Republican National Convention. I may do so sometime this week, I just haven’t determined what I want to say. The Democratic National Convention is this week, of course, and I may have some comments on that, too. Maybe I will contrast the two. We’ll see.
